Boost Your Team's Productivity and Efficiency with Working Genius

Discover the 6 types of Working Genius to help your team thrive in their work and life.
Improve productivity, efficiency, and success with this simple framework.

As a career coach and former operation leader specializing in team culture, productivity, and talent management, I know how challenging it can be to create a high-performing team while keeping costs down.

That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to Working Genius, a program that can help you do more efficiently and effectively in your work environment, while giving your employees an opportunity to shine.

We’ve all bought programs to help our teams.  When I was in the corporate world, we went through many different modalities—personality tests, leadership tests, strengths test—but where it always fell apart was implementation.  Sure, we knew the personality traits of those around us, or what their strengths were, but we didn’t have any idea what to DO with the information.

So, we hung the graphics at our cubes like we were supposed to, and the knowledge gained took a back seat to our day-to-day.

Then we’d realize it didn’t “work”, and we’d search for another program which would—that holy grail that would fix our dynamics and turn us into the well-oiled machine we knew we could be.

Imagine if there was a program that handled both—not only who your employees are individually and how they work best in which roles, but also how to apply that information to workflows, reorganizations, and productivity–all the way down to who should be in which meetings to ensure maximum success.

That program does exist.  And its name is Working Genius.

Working Genius is a powerful productivity model that combines a 20% personality assessment with an 80% productivity model.

It was developed by Pat Lencioni, a best-selling author and renowned expert on team dynamics, to help individuals and teams identify their unique strengths and weaknesses in the workplace—and then actually apply it to what your company does every single day.

As a certified Working Genius facilitator, I can bring the unique benefits of this program, as well as my experience in operational excellence and efficiency, to your company, maximizing your potential in today’s competitive landscape.

By using Working Genius, I can help you create massive change in both team culture and productivity in a short amount of time.

My coaching services are designed to help CEOs, COOs, and CTOs like you achieve your goals by leveraging the strengths of your team members and putting them in the right roles.

Basically, I don’t just tell you what the assessments say and then leave.  I’m with you after that to implement the program. And it’s in the implementation where you see the return-on-investment x10.

Discover Your Natural Gifts with Working Genius -
What Makes It Different?

Working Genius is based on six different types of working genius. Each type corresponds to a specific area of strength that individuals may possess.

Here’s a brief overview of each type—and an example about how it plays out in real life:

leveraging the strengths of your team members with Working Genius

Wonder

This type of working genius involves asking questions, exploring new ideas, and challenging assumptions.
People with a talent for wonder are naturally curious and enjoy discovering new information and insights. They are great at generating new ideas and brainstorming.

Real life example:

I have the genius of Wonder.
I love observing and I have a natural talent for seeing problems or long-term consequences before they occur. I may not be the most talkative person, but when I speak, it’s thoughtful.

Invention

This type of working genius involves creating solutions to problems. People with a talent for invention are innovative and creative problem solvers. They are great at thinking outside the box and coming up with new and unique solutions.

Real life example:

Invention is my working frustration.
My worst nightmare: sitting in front of a blank PowerPoint, trying to come up with a presentation. It makes me feel burned out just thinking about it! I feed off the creative solutions of others to solve the problems I’ve wondered about.

Discernment

This type of working genius involves analyzing information and making decisions. People with a talent for discernment are able to weigh different options and make thoughtful decisions. They are great at evaluating risks and benefits and can be relied upon to make sound judgments.

Real life example:

My other genius is Discernment.
I love evaluating different paths and have an innate sense in my gut when something will “work”. People come to me for advice, which I can deliver in an objective and supportive manner.

Galvanizing

This type of working genius involves rallying people around a common goal or mission. People with a talent for galvanizing are natural leaders who can inspire and motivate others to work towards a shared vision. They are great at building relationships and fostering teamwork.

Real life example:

Another Working Frustration for me here! I have no problem rallying people towards a goal, but I’m not one to tell other people what to do. I prefer they make those decisions on their own. What some people may interpret as an aversion to influencing is actually my natural desire to allow people to find their own path. This is why my philosophy around coaching centers on the client already having the answer. I’m just there to help them bring it out. People may seek me out for advice, but I don’t take a personal stake in whether they follow it or not.
That’s Galvanizing.

Enablement

This type of working genius involves providing resources and support to others. People with a talent for enablement are great at helping others achieve their goals by providing the tools and resources they need to succeed. They are great at coaching and mentoring others.

Real life example:

My Working Competence is Enablement. I love to clear the path for others and make connections to help people achieve their goals. But if I’m doing it too much, I can lose momentum and my energy wanes.

Tenacity

This type of working genius involves persevering through challenges and obstacles. People with a talent for tenacity are determined and resilient, able to overcome setbacks and stay focused on their goals. They are great at staying the course and seeing projects through to completion.

Real life example:

I’m also Working Competent here. I can certainly finish tasks, and do it all the time. But I have to prioritize which ones need me to see them all the way to conclusion, or else I get very drained and things slow down. I prefer to leave ongoing execution for others with that Genius, and get back to Wonder.

Great, you’re thinking.  But how does this apply to what we do every day?

Actually, the application is the clearest part.

Imagine your roadmap calls for development of a new product to meet your biggest client’s needs.

Unlock your team's potential with Working Genius

Typically, your team will go through three phases:

Ideation

The ideation phase is where ideas are generated and explored.
This is where the Wonder and Invention types of Working Genius are particularly important.
Individuals with a talent for Wonder are able to ask insightful questions and come up with new ideas, while those with a talent for Invention are able to take those ideas and turn them into practical solutions.

Activation

The activation phase is where plans are put into action.
This is where the Discernment and Galvanizing types of working genius are particularly important. Individuals with a talent for Discernment weigh different options and make thoughtful decisions, while those with a talent for Galvanizing inspire and motivate others to work towards a shared goal.

Execution

The execution phase is where the project is brought to completion.
This is where the Enablement and Tenacity types of working genius are particularly important. Individuals with a talent for Enablement provide resources and support to others to help them achieve their goals, while those with a talent for Tenacity are able to persevere through challenges and obstacles to see the project through to completion.

By understanding how each type of working genius fits into each phase of a project, individuals and teams can optimize their strengths and work more efficiently, while allowing employees to shine in their Genius zones.

See how easy it is?  Much easier than trying to figure out the other modalities you’ve tried.
